AFC Leopards 2019/20 season began on a wrong foot following a narrow 1-0 loss to Kakamega Homeboyz in a match played at the Bukhungu Stadium on Sunday 1 September.

An 85th minute goal by Stephen Etyang condemned Ingwe to the loss despite controlling most of the proceedings.
Coach Andrew Casa Mbungo handed starts to several new signings including goalkeeper Brian Ochan, Vincent Habamahoro,Robert Mudenyu and Ismailia Diarra.

Former Ingwe midfielder Shami Kibwana almost broke the break the deadlock for the hosts in the 50th minute but his effort was cleared by an alert Mudenyu who had covered keeper Ochan.

Malian import Ismail Diarra looked quite off pace something coach Mbungo says he will overcome.
Coach’s reaction
On the loss:
We are disappointed with the result. It is not what we wanted.
The first half was not so good and we played badly, we made a ring of changes and played better after the break.
On the team’s lack of fire power:
We have new players coming in and they are still adapting to our style of play.
All is not lost, we will be better prepared for our next assignment
