Leopards overcame a resilient Mathare United 2-1 in a round 25 Sportpesa Premier League clash that was played at the Kenyatta stadium on Sunday 5th. First half goal from Whyvone Isuza and second half goal from Marvin Omondi saw AFC Leopards lead Mathare United 2-1 before Isuza was sent off in the 64th minute to bring Ingwe down to 10 men.
Ingwe were the better side and showed their dominate Francis Kimanzi’s side in possession for the better part of the match. The first goal came in the 30th minute after youngster Jaffrey Odeny was brought down by James Situima in the penalty box. Whyvonne Isuza stepped forward to put the ball at the back of the net. Mathare United leveled the score through James Situma in the dying minutes of the first half after a lapse by the Leopards defense. Leopards, took control of the game for the second time at 60th minute when Marvin Nabwire put Jaffery’s shot at the back of the net.
Moments later Ingwe were reduced to 10 men in the 64th minute after Whyvonne Isuza was booked for the second time for retaliation then sent off. The midfielder will be unavailable for the next league fixture. The Leopards held on to bag the three points that now takes them to 42 points joint third with Bandari but with an inferior goal difference.
Leopards will next face Nakumatt FC on 12th August at the Machakos Stadium.
