FOOTBALL
Last season we realized an improved our performance in the FKF Premier League finishing in fourth position having garnered 48 points out of 32 matches. Despite many challenges, we have started the 2021-2022 season well. This strong start is a confirmation of our team’s remarkable resilience in the face of adversity. This attribute is expected to see our resurgence build momentum as
we aim for honours in this season. This should also give our supporters even greater confidence that the future of the Club is built on ever-strengthening foundations.
FINANCIAL POSITION
Our financial position is still very weak and cannot support the Club adequately up to the end of the extended season. This has been attributed to cash flow challenges and high operating costs plus a dip in revenues arising from the erosion of gate collections occasioned by the control measures to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic besides having operated for a season without any corporate sponsorship.
The turnover closed just shy of Kshs 15 million for the period, up to August 2021. The revenue was largely from our sponsors, Betsafe who have, alongside grants from the BetKing Premier League and Startimes – the broadcast partners – which were above Kshs 1.8 million. The overheads remain immense mainly due to the rise in operating costs.
At the end of September 2021, we realized Ksh 8 million in a fundraising event geared towards paying of fines and settle a transfer ban imposed by FIFA.
LEGAL MATTERS
The Club is inundated with numerous legal cases filed both at FIFA and at the local FKF Tribunals that amounted to Ksh 15.4 million of claims. These are historical cases from as far back as 2016 and they pose both financial and operational risks given that as a result we have been banned from recruiting additional quality players.
Nonetheless, we are negotiating with the claimants and are in the process of paying off the debts and have the FIFA ban on recruiting new players lifted.
APPRECIATION
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to fans, members and various stakeholders for their continued support. We would like to acknowledge the support from Specialised Aluminium Ltd, Central Plumbing International Ltd, It KidsAfrica and 748 Air Services for their selfless support.
