The head-coach Pieter De Jongh held his weekly briefing ahead of the GOTV Shield Cup match against Mathare United. Here are some of the key points he expressed.

We have a big match against Mathare United tomorrow. We are preparing well for the match and we hope to win. We are the defending champions of the GoTV Shield Cup and our main aim is to retain the title. Going into the match, we are aware that we are facing a very tricky Mathare side that has already breached our walls twice. Tomorrow’s game however will be a different game all together and we have to show a character of champions if we are to go to the next round.

TEAM NEWS:
Everyone has worked hard this week and the mood in the camp is great. For the first time in a long time we are having almost all players available for selection and this tells you the mood in the camp. We are looking forward to having a great match tomorrow.

I have to also point out on the cohesion in the team. I think we have more teamwork and this is very important for us now and in future.

We have almost a full squad apart from Anthony Kimani who is working hard in his rehabilitation from the knee surgery.

Austin Ikenna and Joseph Wanyonyi have recovered from illness and we expect them to be available for selection tomorrow.

To the Fans
Just like they have done before, I urge them to turn up in large numbers, tomorrow’s match is very important and they always help us push harder and get that important result. We always appreciate their support.

About the IDCC ruling
I think it was not a fair ruling. If the Kenya Premier League awarded us the match then they should not have changed that. We went to Nakuru and Sony did not attend. Everyone knows that so we feel it is a little bit unjust but I leave it unto the management to follow up on the matter.
