AFC Leopards registered their second win in a row after a hard fought 1-0 victory over Sofapaka in a midweek Sportpesa Premier League fixture at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Coach Rodolfo Zapata named a strong starting X1, Robinson Kamura being tasked with the captaincy role in the absence of Duncan Otieno who is expected to be available in the next match.
Ingwe controlled proceedings most part of the match with winger Brian Marita, Whyvonne Isuza and Jaffrey Owiti coming close to scoring in separate occasions, Sofapaka’s only visible chance came in the 7th minute when Stephen Waruru free kick was saved by Ezekiel Owade.
The second half saw more action from Leopards, Isuza, who has scored nine goals for Leopards so far, headed out and over Kigonya unmarked after Marita floated in a swinging shot in the 47th minute.
Kigonya again denied Owiti in the 65th minute after a fine pass from Marita. It was until the 84th minute that Leopards went ahead through star man Brian Marita’s fine strike. Ingwe held on to win the match with a solitary goal.
Leopards now climb to 6th with two games in hand, the side now set eyes on the next league fixture against Sony Sugar on Saturday, June 16th, 2018.
