The Rwandese international joined AFC Leopards from Rwandese side Marine FC on a contract running until January 2026. He has also played for Rayon  Sports  and Kyovu Sports.

At the age of just 22, the striker has scored 16 goals for Marines FC in the last one and half seasons he has been with the club . Gitego has made 4 international matches (senior team) appearances, also featured for the Rwandese U-23 AFCON in 4 qualifiers matches .
