Emmanuel  Lwangu made his 6th start as an AFC Leopards  player, his 9th match this season in the club’s  FKF-PL against Talanta FC.  The match was played at Dandora Stadium on 12th  Sunday.  AFC Leopards emerged  winners trouncing  the hosts by 3 goals to nil, a match that  Lwangu finally  got his first ever league goal and a first as an AFC Leopards  player. He headed into the net from a perfectly delivered  Brian Wanyama’s corner in the 56th minute of the match . The other goal scorers in the match were Arthur Gitego and Kevin Kimani, who both got their second  goals of the season. Early on, Lwangu had made his AFC Leopards debut against Talanta FC  in our first  match of the season at Nyayo Stadium.

In the absence  of experienced  Kennedy Owino, who missed the match due to suspension after accumulating 5 yellow cards, Coach Tomas Trucha handed Emmanuel  a start, pairing  him with Gideon  Were  in the central defense. Lwangu did not disappoint, a goal on his name and a clean sheet. He was  elated  to be on the score sheet. “I’m  happy to have scored  my first goal and the opener for the match . It’s  a feeling  every  player wants to have, especially  scoring  in front  of a parked stadium, all supporting you .”

“There was a rush of adrenaline. It was a mixture of pride and joy.”

He describes  his goal as a perfect delivery , correct timing of the ball, and a descent diving header.

About his experience  so far this season, Lwangu said, “So far so good, it had been quite enriching and a very good experience .With the help of our technical bench and other experienced players in the team, I have been working on different aspects of the game, and I have had some significant improvement.”

The young defender  will be hoping  to  get more  playing  time with the 2023/24 FKF-PL season  is almost coming to an end. AFC Leopards  are  currently  6th on the FKF-PL league table with 44 points. They play Police FC next Wednesday, 15th May, at Dandora Stadium .
