Ingwe at 60 committee was formed after the National Executive Committee resolution to have a team that will plan and oversee AFC Leopards 60th anniversary celebrations. The Committee was headed by Vincent Shimoli as the chairman other members in the club included the club’s patron Alexander Muteshi ,club’s CEO Albert Wesonga who was the secretary, Frankline Imbenzi, Martin Mulwenge, Hosea Kisienya, Victor Milimu, Fredrick Akali, Kingsley Litali, Josek Asikoye, Yvonne Khamati and Norah Lukosi. NEC members were ex-officio members in the committee. The Ingwe at 60 committee had several sub committees : Resource Mobilization, Media and Publicity, Entertainment, Security sub-committees.
AFC Leopards’ 60th anniversary celebration on 24th March 2024 was held at Nyayo with the head of state Dr.William Ruto in attendance as the Chief Guest. A large contingent of A.E Ramassa from Barcelona Spain was in attendance . Other teams who graced the occasion were Gor Mahia and Shabana FC Legends, women and men teams . We had several other activities during the month-long anniversary celebration which included : An official Statehouse visit after an invite from President H.E. Dr. William Ruto. A team led by Ingwe@60 chairman Vincent Shimoli and Patron Alexander Muteshi visited the President through Sports CS Ababu Namwamba.
On 12th March 2024 the club visited the home of founding father, Israel Mutoka, in Shauri Moyo Estate, Nairobi. We had several CSR activities at Shangilia Mtoto wa Africa Children’s Home in Kitusuru , Wamo Care Academy in Kawangware and Nile Road Special School in Makadara .
AFC Leopards also held an Inter-branches Tournament at Jericho’s Camp Toyoyo. Friends of Leopards branch emerged victorious in the football tournament , Eastlands Branch won the Tug of War competition while Lynn Kotolo was the champion in the Musical Chairs competition .
Resource Mobilization sub-committee managed to raise a total of Kenya Shillings 18,856,000 (Eighteen Million, Eight Hundred and Fifty-Six Thousand Only) broken down as follows:
AFC Leopards takes this opportunity to extend their heartfelt appreciations for everyone who contributed to the club’s 60th anniversary and took part in all the activities. Thank you for believing in our vision, standing by our side ,celebrating and creating lasting memories with us.
Some of the notable expenses in the anniversary included paying our visiting teams Gor Mahia and Shabana FC a 1 million shillings appearance fee for each team.
The committee recommended AFC Leopards to employ a media and liaisons officer to build, maintain communications, and coordinate AFC Leopards media activities. This has since been implemented as the club announced the appointment of Ms. Catherine Shainyisa as the club’s new club’s Media Liaison Officer.
“Ingwe@60 will go down in the Kenyan football history as the first football club to celebrate together with other football clubs through the invite. The acceptance of other clubs to join AFC leopards in the celebrations was a clear indication that the event was widely accepted. We also improved our working relationship with our partners and sponsors who willingly assisted the project to achieve its budget targets. We worked closely with Betika, Azam TV, MAA Hotel, County governors of Nairobi, Bungoma, Vihiga, Kakamega, Trans-Nzoia and Busia not forgetting our political leaders from western Kenya who really assisted in gracing the occasion.” Ingwe at 60 Committee Chairman , Elder Vincent Shimoli signed out as he handed over the Ingwe at 60 reports to the club’s National Executive Committee.
