AFC Leopards played Nzoia Sugar FC in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League matchday 23 at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday beating the visitors 2-0 courtesy of goals from Arthur Gitego and Hassan Beja . Coming into this match, AFC Leopards were unbeaten in the last 9 matches  across all competitions. Tomas Trucha made one change to the squad that faced PAC University in the cup competition with Levis Opiyo replacing Humphrey Katasi with Kennedy  Owino making  his first FKF-PL start.

Arthur Gitego celebrates his 78th minute goal

Leopards started the match with a high tempo. Victor Omune, Jaffari Owiti, and  Arthur Gitego had chances at goal, but it bore no fruits  as the match went to the break goalless.The second half  started with the visitors getting  a number of chances. It was until  the 78th minute that the deadlock was broken, Rwandese international  Arthur  Gitego turning a well delivered  cross from Omune past the Nzoia Sugar  FC goalkeeper. It didn’t  take long before Hassan Beja got us the second goal in the 80th -his second of the season tapping  in from close range after substitute Kevin Kimani delivered a wonderful corner kick.

The Leopards currently sit 7th on the league table having amassed 34 points extending their unbeaten run to 10 matches . They will be visiting Tusker FC on Sunday at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.
