FKF-PL 2024 is back, and AFC Leopards got it rolling in style by thrashing league returnees 0-4 in our first-round match that was played at Dandora Stadium. Arthur Gitego , Boniface Munyendo, new signing Sydney Lokale were  on the scoresheet to ensure that the Leopards get maximum points on matchday one.

Gitego got us into the party in the third  minute of the match capitalizing on Mathare United’s defensive error to get us the opener of the match, a goal that brought a frenzy mood at the fully packed Dandora Stadium. Minutes later, Mathare United had a chance to level matters from a freekick after Ken Owino’s foul but the ball flew off target. In the 16th minute Boniface Munyendo doubled the lead after receiving a neat pass from goalkeeper Levis Opiyo, controlling the ball and lobbying it over Mathare United’s goalkeeper. The hosts had their moments in the 25th minute from a free kick and a corner but steady Levis Opiyo pulled two wonderful saves. Gitego had a chance to us a third goal from Lewis Bandi’s wonderful delivery from the right wing, but his header flew off target. Peter Maker’s and Ken Owino’s efforts at goal were also blocked as we headed into the break with a healthy 0-2 lead.

Coach Thomas Trucha made two changes in the 63rd minute with Luke Namanda and Kayci Odhiambo coming in for Captain Cliff Miheso and Boniface Munyendo. Mathare United had another chance to halve the score line but Opiyo pulled another fantastic save. In the 73rd minute Victor Omune got us the third goal after a lovely lay off from winger Hassan Beja. Julius Masaba and Sydney Lokale finally made their debut replacing industrious Hassan Beja and Arthur Gitego. Lokale’s impact was immediately felt as he lurked on a Julius Masaba’s pass to score our fourth goal of the match.

Brian Yakhama was later introduced replacing Victor Omune.

We host Posta Rangers on Sunday 1st September at Dandora Stadium in our second-round match.
