AFC Leopards will play Gor-Mahia FC in the finals of the Sportpesa Super Cup tournament at Uhuru Stadium in Tanzania. This is after both teams won their respective semi-Finals played at the same venue earlier today(Friday 8, June 2017).
Leopards made the finals having eliminated Tanzania giants, Yanga SC, 4-2 in post match penalties. The two teams had played to a goalless draw in normal playing time before the penalty shoot out. Goal Keeper Ian Otieno was Ingwe’s hero of the day saving two spot kicks and scoring the winning one for the leopards. Ingwe’s other three penalties were converted by Bernard Mang’oli, Allan Katerrega and Duncan Otieno.
Gor-Mahia on the other side eliminated Kenyan counterpart Nakuru All Stars who play in Kenya’s Second division. Gor-Mahia won the match 2-0 courtesy of Goals from Meddie Kaggera and George Odhiambo.
The results have set up a kenyan derby match with Leopards getting an early opportunity to revenge a 3-0 defeat suffered to Gor-Mahia in the first leg meeting of the Kenyan premier League this year.
The winner of the tournament will not only take home ksh 3,000,000 but will also get a chance to play England’s Everton FC in a friendly match to be played in Tanzania.
